[PRESIDENTIAL]. TAYLOR, Zachary (1784-1850). Partially printed document signed ("Z. Taylor"), as Colonel, 1st Regiment, U.S. Army. Fort Crawford [Michigan Territory], 30 June 1833.



1pp, approximately 8 x 13 in. (creasing at folds, small abrasion near bottom quarter of document, light toning). Docketed to verso.

Colonel Zachary Taylor as commander of Fort Crawford certifies that $13.91 is due the Post Master "for letters received marked public service..." and that "letters above charged for were received by me in the performance of my official duties during the quarter ending 30th June 1833." Post Master has signed his receipt at bottom of document.

Signed by future president Zachary Taylor while in command of the 1st United States Infantry at Fort Crawford in Prairie du Chien, in present-day Wisconsin. Taylor commanded the Fort from 1829-37.
